1). FURTHER INFO ON DON ED HARDY ART EXHIBITION & BOOK SIGNING - DECEMBER 13TH 7 PM
If you think you know who Don Ed Hardy is because you've visited one of the 75 storefronts around the world that bear his name or because you've seen T-Shirts, shoes or tote bags with his logo or you know a little bit about the tattoo world, think again. He may be a brand name unto himself today after forty years in the trade, but for the man known as Don Ed Hardy it's all about the art.

At The Beat Museum we've been telling people for years the Beats made it OK to be different. They were non-conformists, people who lived on the edge, who followed their own drummers and who, for good or for ill, lived authentic lives. The Beats did not set out to change the world, they we're simply artistic individuals living their own truth, and by following their own individual passions they did, in fact, change the world.

Don Ed Hardy is as Beat as they get. As a boy growing up in the 1950's he dug tattoos at a time when tattoos were embraced only by sailors, bikers or ex-cons. He also knew he wanted to be an artist. And as a teenager he fell in love with the works of Corso, Ginsberg, Burroughs and Kerouac - all of which brought him to San Francisco in 1962.

The Beats made it OK for people to live a life not approved by mainstream society. They made it OK to be gay, they made it OK for men to treat women as intellectual equals, they made it OK for Blacks and Whites and Asians and Latinos to hang out together and to be friends and even lovers. And the Beats made it OK to pursue your art - even if meant slinging enough ink to sink a battleship and your canvas was someone else's skin.

So, there are lots of reasons for us to celebrate the art and work of Don Ed Hardy at The Beat Museum. He's lived an authentic American life, just like so many of The Beats. And he has something else in common with the Beats: by pursuing his own passions, Don Ed Hardy helped change the world in ways he could have never dreamed.

2). BLACK FRIDAY, CYBER MONDAY, INTERNET SALES AND BLAH, BLAH, BLAH....
FREE SHIPPING FOR US ORDERS OVER $100, INTERNATIONAL $250
We try to send out only one newsletter a month. Sometimes we'll send two. And we try not to abuse the people on our mailing list by being too sales oriented. Unlike some other outfits. I can't believe Apple Computer! I must have gotten two dozen email sales pitches from Apple just since Black Friday less than a week ago (Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving when many retail businesses finally go into the "black". Cyber Monday is the Monday following Thanksgiving when internet sales peak as consumers prepare for Christamas.)

At The Beat Museum we're not quite as sophisticated at slicing and dicing our internet customer set. We ask people to spend money when we have bills due and we do what we can when we're able to offer deals to all our loyal customers.

BIG CHRISTMAS SEASON SALES INCENTIVES:
There are lots of new products listed on our online store.

3). THE DISCOUNT GAME AT OUR RETAIL LOCATION - FROM 5% TO 35% OFF
AKA: "PSSST... JACK SENT ME..."
Kerouac used to invent games all the time. Last year we invented a little game to encourage locals to do some Holiday Shopping at the gift shop at The Beat Museum. It works like this:

A). Come in and select stuff to buy like you would at any retail store.
B). When you get to the check out counter with your purchases, simply say to the person running the cash register, "PSSST...JACK SENT ME..." That's the cue that you've made the commitment to buy all the stuff in your pile.
C). At that point you will get to play a little game to determine how much of a discount you will get off your purchase. You will select one of ten markers where a discount percentage is hidden from sight. The discounts will range from 5% to 35%. When you select the hidden marker all your items will be rung up at that discounted rate. But remember, you have to say "Pssst... Jack sent me..." in order to play and you must follow through on purchasing all items once the discount rate is revealed.
D). Of the ten markers, TWO will be at 5%, THREE will be at 10%, ONE will be 15%, ONE will be 20%, ONE will be 25%, ONE will be at 30% and ONE will be at a whopping 35%! But remember, you must follow through on buying all your selected items regardless of the discount amount selected and you can not add any items after a discount rate has been determined.

Are we having fun at The Beat Museum, or what?!?

Happy Holidays, everyone!
